Ephesians.

Week #1

Knowing our identity in Christ.

What is our identity in Christ?

What are some of the things we might put our identity in?

(clue: when you might say “I am a......”)

These things aren’t necessarily intrinsically wrong in themselves, but they become a problem when we place our identity in these things instead of primarily in Jesus.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will.

Ephesians 1:4-5

What does Paul say about our identity and why is it so important to know this?

‘And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.’

Ephesians 2:6

What does it mean to sit with Christ? How can we make sure we spend time with Jesus?’

How does knowing you were loved and chosen before you had done anything impact you? What does this tell us about God’s nature? How might this inform how I live and relate to him?
